Wow, it has been a long time since we last blogged, sorry! With the excitement of Christmas & the New Year, time has run away from us.
Following on from our last post, since then we have had a huge amount of snow, like most of the country did! Wellies, hats and scarves became ordinary items of my work outfits and the campus looked beautiful. Here are a couple of snaps…
Ice, ice, swan?

Hello, how are things?
As you know from Hannah’s previous post we, The Outreach Team, were selected by NASMA (National Association of Student Money Advisers) to be a Showcase Partner for National Student Money Week 2013.
Let’s hear a loud WAHOOOO for that!
National Student Money Week 2013 Showcase Partners
This was fantastic news especially as it started to generate interest in the event from other staff within the University. In fact the Vice Chancellor of the University Mary Stuart even contacted us to pass on her congratulations and best wishes for the event. It was great to get her support plus the other congratulations we received. The pressure’s on for creating an engaging and popular week especially as it’s a brand new event for the University; no-one has attempted to cover it before! Continue reading

Happy, Happy, Happy!
Ending the week on a high!
The Outreach Team have some exciting news about National Student Money Week (February 11th-15th)….The University of Lincoln has been chosen to be a showcase partner!
This is something we have been looking forward to and will be planning for from now until February. It is a really important week to dispel those Student Finance myths and ensure that students, parents, teachers, whoever have the correct information when considering or advising about University.
So put the dates in your diary and make sure you see if there is anything going on at a University near you and get involved!
Have a lovely weekend.
Following on from Emma’s post ‘Dispelling the myths of Student Finance‘ the Outreach Team are busy putting together project to (hopefully) do just that!

So Fresher’s week is over, everyone is settling into University life and Autumn is well and truly here. This time of year sees the start of Open Days and UCAS applications, the University cycle is starting again! With this in mind, we want to get the facts straight and make sure everyone has all they need to know about Student Finance. The £9,000 fees make it even more important to spread the word and dispel the myths – a lot of people are put off by the big figures and the ‘debt’ they’ll be in when they leave University. We really don’t want this to happen, everyone can go to University if they want to… Continue reading

The University of Lincoln
On Saturday Emma, Matt and I attended our second University of Lincoln Open Day. We were in charge of the Student Support stand as well as the Student Finance presentations. The last Open Day we took part in was on a Wednesday, it was busy but not as busy as a Saturday!!!
The University’s September Open Day was an incredibly busy day. The campus was full of really enthusiastic prospective students.
Good morning bloggers 🙂
Although it is a wet & miserable Friday, the campus has transformed into something a little more exciting than usual. The University is playing host to the National Fire and Rescue Challenge Competition – 130 teams from across the country are competing in a range of simulated rescues. As I type, I can see two men dangling from our office by some rope – beats the grey skies and muddy puddles! Nic and I are keen to get some photos, which we will of course share with you all… Continue reading
The beautiful Olympic opening ceremony
So, Olympic fever has taken over the entire country and I for one am completely obsessed. What an amazing couple of weeks! I want everyone to be this proud of ‘GB‘ all the time, let’s hope it lasts!
Gold medals galore & some Olympic nail art!
During the day when I’m not glued to the telly I have been busy busy in the Student Support Centre & the Marketing office. As you all know, Hannah is currently working in the Admissions department, also, Matt is now on holiday and Nic has just returned from hers, so the team has been a bit disjointed. However, Nic and I are really excited to have Hannah back next week after she finishes her 4 week project with Admissions – we love working together as a team and have missed her lots. Hello blogging world, I have returned from Northern Spain and it appears the sun has finally followed me back to the flat lands of Lincolnshire.
As you know I am a Student Support Intern and I predominantly help students get their heads around all of the changes happening in the world of student finance (not an easy thing, it’s a complicated world). Continue reading
A very satisfied (slightly exaggerated) audience
Well, this is my first day back in the office in what feels like AGES. I’ve just got back from Latitude Festival – I had an amazing few days seeing some fantastic live music, comedy, poetry and theatre. Four loads of washing later and I think I have just about got rid of the mud out of my clothes! So now it’s back to reality… Continue reading
