So, Olympic fever has taken over the entire country and I for one am completely obsessed. What an amazing couple of weeks! I want everyone to be this proud of ‘GB‘ all the time, let’s hope it lasts!

During the day when I’m not glued to the telly I have been busy busy in the Student Support Centre & the Marketing office. As you all know, Hannah is currently working in the Admissions department, also, Matt is now on holiday and Nic has just returned from hers, so the team has been a bit disjointed. However, Nic and I are really excited to have Hannah back next week after she finishes her 4 week project with Admissions – we love working together as a team and have missed her lots. So it has been quite some time since I last wrote a blog here. This has mainly because due to events and days off I haven’t spent a long time in the office. So I suppose I best give an update on what I have been getting up to. I have been out and about attending events in Scunthorpe for Higher Education evening at colleges, as well as manning the Student Affairs stand (along with Emma) during the post-graduate open day. The first event was really quite busy, handing out dozens of prospectuses left, right and centre. It was quite an eye-opening to realise how much detailed knowledge about each course the marketing department know (Gareth from marketing attended this event with us), and how much we really are going to have learn when we start attending the larger HE and UCAS fairs across the country.
The sun is still shining!!! Hope everyone has had a lovely weekend and aren’t suffering from the horrible cold that seems to be going round — Mine is slowly subsiding.
Today is a day of enquiries!! The Outreach Team have been drafted in to help answer external enquiries in the Marketing department, manning the phones. I am very glad we were asked to help out as it’ll hopefully build my confidence with taking enquiries in a quiet office; always a daunting task!
Marketing receive calls ranging from course questions, fee options, accommodation queries to how long is a piece of string…… so a real chance to test our knowledge– or simply our ability to transfer calls and get familiar with the phones- of which, no two are ever the same!!! . Continue reading
